Pastor David N. Hunter and Evangelist Lisa J. Hunter

Pastor David Hunter is a native of Philadelphia and a fourth generation preacher. He is the son of songbird Mother Lerotha A. Hunter and the late Chaplain Elmer Hunter. He is the husband of Evangelist Lisa J. Hunter (formerly Milburn) and to this union were born two sons, David Jr. and Daniel Keith.

He was trained under the leadership of Bishop Ernest C. Morris Sr., at the Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ, Philadelphia, PA. Pastor Hunter received his minister’s license in 1984, was ordained an elder in 1992, and began the Tribe of Judah Church of God in Christ in 1994.

In August of 2002, God called Pastor Hunter to travel on a mission trip to Uganda, East Africa.  Upon returning to the United States, Pastor Hunter was led to change the name and focus of the Tribe of Judah.  The name “Miracle Center” was added and the church relocated to the River Oaks Community. Tribe of Judah is affiliated with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship under the tutelage of Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton.

Pastor Hunter serves as the 1st Assistant to Bishop Wesley T. Cherry in the Northern Virginia District.

Pastor Hunter’s leadership extends throughout the community. From 2002 – 2004, he served on the Dumfries Town Council and chaired the Transportation Committee and was a member of the Economic Development Committee. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in Urban Studies and is a certified planner by trade. He serves as the planning director for an engineering firm in Northern Virginia.

He is a man of an excellent spirit, one who is committed to “Gather the people together that they might have water.”    Numbers 21:16

In his leisure time, Pastor Hunter enjoys bicycling, watching sports movies and taking long walks.

Evangelist Lisa J. Hunter, also a native of Philadelphia, is the second eldest daughter of Deacon Samuel Milburn and Mother Pearl E. Milburn. Lady Hunter gave her life to the Lord at the age of 11 and was called to the ministry at age 19. She has served faithfully in the church in various capacities to include choir and drama ministry. Currently, she leads the Women’s Ministry and Intercessory Prayer Ministries at Tribe of Judah.

Lady Hunter is a lover of people and has a heart and passion for children and youth. Her commitment to the community is an extension of that passion. She has served at ACTS Turning Points, working with victims of Domestic Violence; at SAVAS, providing advocacy support to victims of Sexual Assault and at the Prince William County Juvenile Detention Center, just to name a few.

Lady Hunter, at the Lord’s direction returned to school to pursue a B.S.W. in Social Work. God has blessed her to obtain scholarship and Dean’s List Standing.  “Whatsoever she does in word or deed, she does in the name of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God, the Father”.  Colossians 3:17

She and Pastor Hunter are so proud of their two godly sons, David and Daniel. David is a professional actor, with a B.A. in Theatre performance, who serves as the church’s drummer. Daniel, a former student of Berklee College of Music, is currently attending an Audio Engineering Certification Program in Burbank, CA.

Leisure time is spent reading, journaling, cooking, baking and taking long walks with her husband.
